New & Revamped Maple Leaf Events

by Neely Myers, Chamber Membership Director
Flash back to the beginning of Maple Leaf with It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World on Monday, October 13th at the First Christian Church Lighthouse, 800 S. Main. With this all-star Cinerama epic, producer/director Stanley Kramer vowed to make "the comedy that would end all comedies." The story begins during a massive traffic jam caused by reckless driver, who before (literally) kicking the bucket, cryptically tells the assembled drivers that he's buried a fortune in stolen loot, "under the Big W." A cast of hilarious characters set out on a mad scramble to find the treasure all the while being monitored by a scrupulously honest police detective. Virtually every lead, supporting, and bit part in the picture is filled by a well-known comic actor of the 1960s.

I plan everything in an old fashioned paper planner, including my fun.

A Vote Yes for Growth, Progress and Savings

By Mark J. Elliff Chamber President and Economic Development Director

On August 5th, Carthage residents will be asked to vote on a very important issue regarding our Wastewater Treatment Facility.  Now this may not be the most desirable subject to talk about, however is affects every one of us on a daily basis.  It also is one of the biggest considerations to be looked at whenever one of our local industries expands or a new industry looks at locating in Carthage.
